Todays meet the maker is the wonderful Chloe of Cariad Clay. Chloe is not only going to be selling her stunning work at our Cardiff and Valleys Etsy Made Local this Sunday, she has also been busy arranging the charity part of the day.
In case you missed it we will be raising money for Velindre Cancer Centre with a raffle for lots of beautiful handmade Christmas decorations as well as gifting them with a tree full of more decorations. I’m delighted that we’re doing this, and it wouldn’t be happening without Chloe stepping
up to organise it 🙂
Can you tell us a little about what you do?
I try to make pots that are unusual and beautiful while still remaining functional.
How did you get started?
I did a little pottery in school and always remembered it fondly, so when I discovered an evening class near me I had to give it a go.
Where are you from?
I grew up in the valleys and love the woods and hills, nature is a big inspiration in my work.
What’s your favourite part of what you do?
I find crafting very therapeutic and love losing myself in clay.
What’s your favourite item to make?
The coast is another big inspiration and I love making these little rock pool plates as they remind me of summer and time spent by the sea.
What was your proudest moment?
In pottery it was firing my own kiln for the first time.
If you won a million pounds what would you do?
Travel and buy a house by the sea.
