Next up on our meet the makers series we have Venla of Moon & Bear.
Can you tell us a little about what you do?
I make clothing, cushions, banners, bunting etc. by using the method of screen-printing.
How did you get started?
I learned screen-printing while doing Illustration at uni and decided to open my own Etsy shop to try and sell t-shirts I had designed and made.
Where are you from?
I’m originally from Finland but moved here 4 years ago for uni, and then decided to stay afterwards because I really love this city and have made some great friends here.
What’s your favourite part of what you do?
Having the freedom to create whatever I want and interests me at the moment, not having to follow a brief or answer to clients!
What’s your favourite item to make?
Recently I’ve started doing embroidery, which is a nice break from screen-printing!
What inspires you?
At the moment I’m really inspired by all things witchy, strange and esoteric.
What was your proudest moment?
I got featured in Frankie magazine earlier this year!!
If you won a million pounds what would you do?
Well, loads of things, but firstly I’d quit my part-time job so I could be a full-time artist.
