Meet the Maker – Aunt Owl

Next up on our meet the makers series we have Anna of Aunt Owl.

Can you tell us a little about what you do?

I love to make crochet toys, accessories and gifts. I always try to learn something new, that is why I use felting and sewing techniques while making my toys.

How did you get started? img_3195

My mom taught me how to crochet when I was a kid and this has remained my favourite hobby ever since!

Where are you from?

I’m Russian. My husband and I moved to Cardiff from St. Petersburg last year. The most beautiful and impressive thing we have noticed about Wales so far is its nature. We travel a lot around Wales and it still surprises us how many beautiful places there are.

What’s your favourite part of what you do?

I love creative process of making my toys but the best part for me is when I can realise an idea, an image from my head and finally hold it in my arms.

What’s your favourite item to make?

I love to make crochet toys. Usually I don’t use patterns I just follow my inspiration. At that moment I feel like a sculptor who carves a statue from a piece of stone 🙂

Animals, nature, kid’s pictures, cartoons and all the world around

What was your proudest moment?

When I got my first review on my Etsy shop page =)

If you could pass any law what would it be?

I would have cancelled all visas so that people could travel anywhere they want 🙂

If you won a million pounds what would you do?

First of all I would have flown to Antarctica to see penguins in their real life without glass barrier between us.

You can find Anna on Etsy at any time, and of course she will be with us at Tramshed on the 4th of December with her amazing makes!
